Upon the completion of W. N. “Goblin” Carey’s journey through the US Army’s Special Forces Qualification Course on 13 July 2008, Goblin received orders from the Army assigning him to the A Company, 4th Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), 1st Special Forces Regiment, stationed in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. It was here he began putting together his doctrine of paintball strategy and tactics on which he would base a training course and company (the Combat Applications Group or CAG Paintball) and begin teaching his doctrine to teams and players in the area. It was his chance meeting with Charles “Mothman” Cole that they began to discuss the formation of a team. Out of this discussion came The SPARTANS: MILSIM/Scenario Paintball Team.
The Spartans are designed to be the cutting edge in MILSIM/Scenario tactics and strategy. The standard bearer of what MILSIM/Scenario Paintball Teams should be. Kind and courteous to everyone they meet yet fierce and audacious on the field. They train not to be perfect, but to be the best, always striving to be better than the day before. They are wise and cunning, fast and fierce, strong, and silent. They are called Spartans, and deservingly so.
